Activities related to the project are in full swing “One day in the European Parliament” which represents the twin cities of Faenza and Schwäbisch Gmünd, which in 2023 were among the winning cities of the second edition of the “Presidents’ Prize for Municipal Cooperation between Italy and Germany”, an initiative supported by the Directorate-General for Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The aim of the project is to increase cooperation between Italian and German municipalities with the aim of strengthening a culture of peace and democratic stability in Europe through local commitment.
With this project, both cities are deepening the topic of European integrationit appeals to the younger generations and the citizens of their respective communities and offers direct experience of the functions and work of the European institutions and in particular the European Parliament.
The young people who participate in the ongoing activities in Schwäbisch Gmünd are ITIP Bucci students from Faenza, Parlergymnasium and Scheffoldgymnasium in Schwäbisch Gmünd as well as the international partners of the European project NEXT, of which the Union of Romagna Faenza is the leading partner.
The above concluded a preparatory and training coursealso in English, which the students realized on current European topics such as sustainable development and gender equality, with the support of experts, professionals in the field and teachers from schools.
Thanks exchange trips As part of the project, the young participants will become the protagonists of a simulation of the European Parliament for one day, twice: the first simulation took place last March in Faenza, the second one is currently underway in the partner German city of Schwäbisch Gmünd.
An opportunity to penetrate deeper issues of sustainability and gender equalityexamines the values and opportunities of twinning and the European Community.
