Consar Ravenna hired Antonio Valentini to replace Bonitta. He was already his representative in the 2020/21 season

Porto Robur Costa 2030 from Ravenna announces the hiring of Antonio Valentini as the first Consar coach for the next A2 Championship. The 34-year-old Calabrian coach, born in Vibo Valentia on January 30, 1990, returns to the Ravenna bench after the 2020/21 season in which he was Marco Bonitta’s second.

After that year, Valentini spent two seasons at Sir Safety Perugia and one at Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, always as an assistant coach. Before Ravenna, his career fully developed in Callipo Vibo, first as a scout, then as a second and for a season also as head coach. To his credit is also his long-term experience in the technical management of the Italian men’s national team, which began in 2015 when Gianlorenzo Blengini joined the team and was characterized by great results: first of all, second place at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, second place at the 2015 World Cup, a bronze medal at the 2015 European Championship.

In his professional career, he won the A2 Championship, two Italian A2 Cups and the Italian Cup, the Italian Super Cup and the Club World Cup with Perugia.

“It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I return to Ravenna— the first words of the new coach – where I had a great time and where I could work with a serious and organized company and with very passionate and competent people. I really like the club’s volleyball project, which will continue to focus on youth next year, following the tradition that has become a trademark. The squad will be changed in many elements, but we will still build a competitive team capable of fighting for the play-offs, taking into account the very high level of the A2 championship, where experienced players with great technical skills play: a championship that must be faced with the right head and without underestimating anything and anyone. As for me, I will try to bring the wealth of knowledge and experience I have gained from working alongside great coaches, including the Italian national team.”
